Elysée Montmartre

Inaugurated in 1807, the Elysée Montmartre quickly became an essential public ball that saw the birth of the French cancan and inspired by many artists like Toulouse-Lautrec. The life of the place is also punctuated by the great dates of history: hospital and balloon factory in war, revolutionary club during the Commune, the first tribune of Louise Michel … These highlights forged at the Elysee Montmartre a transgressive and disputable character that still exists today. The days of the balls gone, the live music takes over in the 70s and big names of the scene succeed: Coluche, Alain Bashung, Daft Punk, David Bowie … The Elysee Montmartre stands at the foot of the Sacred Heart for nearly two centuries. Parisian monument of culture and entertainment, he saw the fashion and the artists. It re-opens its doors in September 2016, renovated and modernized.
